It Always Happens When Daddy Is Gone

March 10, 2009

Now seriously-when else would a little boy who always falls directly asleep wind up taking an hour of calming to finally hit the hay? When else would a little girl who has been doing an awesome job going to sleep happily suddenly scream and scream and scream for water? (Of course at the same time that her brother is screaming for his mama.) Only, and I repeat-ONLY when Daddy is gone and I am doing the bedtime thing by myself. It never fails. This sort of thing literally happens every single time that Josh has a meeting or something and can't help with putting them to bed. Am I the only one that has this issue? Do the children conspire together behind my back before I start attempting to put them to bed. I can just imagine...

Tali: Hey, Owey! I have an idea that's willy fun. Let's kye and kye and kye for mama. Maybe she'll give us a paw-sicle or somethin. Wuh-chew think?

Owey: La-la! Yah-s! (yes)

  1. Ha, Ha!! I can only laugh because I am with ya on this! It just isn't your kids!!! My kids do the exact same thing!! Bill is gone right now visiting in Eldon for a couple days and the boy's have been acting up so badly. I agree they must talk behind our backs and fix a plan to make our lives so much harder!! It makes me appreciate Bill so much more when he is gone.

  2. I love how you're both keeping a good sense of humor about it. That sort of bedtime can be very stressful I am know (and I only have the one).

I can SO relate to your struggle....and I totally think that the kids do somehow (maybe even subconciously) conspire against us!! :-) It never fails...especially on thise days when I'm not feeling up to par for whatever reason, it's like the kids know I'm weaker at those times and they seem to go out of their way to be naughty! Isn't it wonderful to know that God never changes and that HIS power is made perfect in OUR weakness!! So thankful for you,

  5. I am quite sure that my sister and I did such things, for the record. :)

Katie, I can't find your email address. That other "blog" that's listed on my profile is just a prayer journal that I was using for a while. I was trying to find a good way to keep track of my prayers so that I'd see how they were answered. But I didn't really stick with it. Kind of like my first blog. :)

I miss you guys so much. The church here is so wonderful, but it's so different. I know it was silly of me to expect it to be otherwise, but somehow I did.

  6. Michele,

How's a girl to keep up with you from afar without a blog to follow? Please, oh please, start up again!

You are missed. It's good to know that even though the church is different, the location is different, your job is different, etc., Jesus Christ remains the same yesterday today and forever. Keep clinging to our unchanging God!

My email's pretty simple-just my name at gmail.
