Adoption Story: Hayes and Kara

June 25, 2015

Hayes and Kara live their lives all out for Jesus. Every time I’ve interacted with Kara, I’ve left encouraged and reminded of Christ’s worth and beauty. From the get-go, this couple’s adoption journey was about Him and not about themselves. It was incredible to watch.

Hayes and Kara got started with CAC in July of last year. They began working on their home study while I got started on their profile and in December they were ready to apply with agencies. At the beginning of February they presented their profile to an expectant mama and she loved them. They were matched!

Kara sweetly referred to this expectant mama as “my new bff.”  While they prepared for the baby coming soon, she and Hayes put their focus on loving this woman, showing her the care and compassion of Jesus with their listening ears and kind words.

As their adorable son entered the world, they continued to stand firm in their commitment to love no matter what. When all around there was stress and heightened emotions and exhaustion and drama, they looked to their Father and they chose love. They stood firm on their conviction that this adoption was not about them, but about their amazing God. They tenderly cared for their son’s birth family, beautifully walking out Philippians 2:3-5: "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus…"

Hayes and Kara, thank you for giving me a picture of what it looks like to truly reflect God’s heart in adoption. The way you've loved your son’s birth family so deeply and beautifully takes my breath away.
